The defining economic challenge of our generation is the failure of the economy to create a sufficient number of productive, well-remunerated jobs. While Kenya’s economy grew by 4.6 per cent in 2025, approximately 18.1 million people were employed in the informal sector, highlighting the persistent chasm between headline growth and secure, productive employment.
The Mwananchi Party holds that the primary economic duty of government is the expansion of opportunity. We will champion a new era of Kenyan production through state-led industrialisation, focusing on manufacturing, agro-processing, technology, housing, infrastructure, the creative economy, and export-oriented enterprise.
Strategic state corporations will be strengthened where they serve a clear developmental purpose. Conversely, private enterprises—particularly SMEs and youth-led ventures—must be liberated from superfluous regulation, punitive taxation, and barriers to capital. The State must act as an investor, enabler, and strategic partner, not merely a collector of taxes.
